Ma Shan Zheng Regular(马善政毛笔楷书):
Chinese and English Headline and Decorative Fonts.
Ma Shan Zheng Regular (马善政毛笔楷书) is a famous style of Chinese calligraphy created by the Qing Dynasty calligrapher Ma Shan Zheng. Known for its balanced structure, precise strokes, and elegant rhythm, this 毛笔楷书 (brush regular script) reflects both discipline and artistry.
In the exhibition, Ma Shan Zheng’s calligraphy can be displayed alongside Hanfu to highlight the shared values of craftsmanship, harmony, and aesthetic beauty in Chinese heritage. STSong (华文宋体):
Chinese and English Body Fonts.
STSong (华文宋体) is a modern Chinese typeface inspired by the traditional Song-style printing fonts (宋体), which originated during the Song Dynasty (960–1279 CE). Its serif-like strokes and balanced, elegant structure make it particularly suitable for formal, historical, and cultural displays.
For an exhibition for the Hanfu, STSong evokes the classical aesthetic of Chinese history, complementing the timeless elegance of Hanfu garments. The exhibition showcases the evolution of design, materials, and aesthetics, including iconic garments such as 深衣 (Shenyi), 曲裾袍 (Quju Pao), 交窬裙 (Jiaoyu Qun), 齐胸襦裙 (Qi Xiong Ruqun) and more.
The mission of the exhibition is to educate visitors about the rich history of Chinese clothing, preserve Hanfu heritage, inspire creativity in modern design, and promote cultural understanding. Through interactive displays, workshops, and digital media, the exhibition allows visitors to experience Hanfu firsthand and appreciate its enduring cultural significance.
The exhibition features a long corridor guiding visitors through the rich history of Chinese Hanfu. On the left, Hanfu models represent the past, while scrolls on the right provide historical context. A large interactive silk, shaped like mountains, invites visitors to explore materials along the timeline. The scrolls feature concave ink brush marks layered with imagery of accessories, creating a dialogue between clothing and historical artworks. Hanfu stands are separated by seven red pillars with Chinese window patterns, each representing a stage in Hanfu evolution. Behind the garments, ancient paintings show historical figures wearing them, and information signs on the right complete a harmonious blend of history, art, and interactive storytelling.
